The Me I Left Behind

You don’t know what you did.

You don’t understand how dead I was inside.

You didn’t see the horror movie that was my mind.

You didn’t see because I didn’t let you see.

I didn’t let anyone see.

Then it happened.

You chipped the wall around my heart.

You finally saw the scars.

I finally told you the stories.

You wiped away my tears.

You embraced the parts of me that only knew pain.

I started to see I wasn’t alone.

You held me tight.

You never let go.

You saved me.
