How can a room full of scholars be considered just a room full of dollars?

This guy is sleeping, this chick is texting and my teacher's in a bad mood,

And I'm over here complaining about our old books with my attitude.

I hit a nerve in my teacher, he knew exactly what I meant,

In my high school class, I get less than a dollar, turns out I'm only worth a silly little percent.

Why is it that a small town can't just raise some taxes?

Can you not see us struggling, are you blind, do you need glasses?

Children are the future and when the opportunity comes across to make that future bright,

It's been rejected multiple times and personally, I don't think it's right.

The ballots are almost due, and I truly don't mean to be negative in any way,

But from a real point of view, I don't think it's gonna change because people don't wanna pay.

It's the sad truth that money makes the world go round.

The even more sad truth is that people aren't taking a stand or making a sound.

I did graduate, but it still isn't too late,

It's up to locals and people like me not to hesitate, when it comes to that election date.
