Mirror

She looks in the mirror.

The glass reflective slate mirror.

She turns away.

She hates the mirror.

Her friends look to her.

She is their own personal mirror.

She is strong and confident and beautiful,

But that's not what she sees in the mirror.

Her friends aspire to be her.

Even though she hates what she sees in the mirror.

You will never know, however,

That she doesn't like her own mirror.

She smiles, she laughs, she cares deeply.

Her friends try to reflect her qualities like a mirror.

She is a rock, a support system, a good friend.

She is like your favorite "skinny" mirror.

Behind the door,

she wishes she could slam the mirror.

Out in the world,

She shines like a freshly cleaned mirror.

She stands like a coward

In front of the mirror.

She stands tall and proud

Away from the dreaded mirror.

She has the most beautiful, caring soul in this world,

If only she could escape the curse of the mirror.
