Mirror

Take a long look at yourself in the mirror

What do you see?

Your cheeks? Your eyes? Your nose?

Maybe you don’t see features at all.

I don’t.

My features and my soul

Has been shaped by those I have come across.

My teachers, directors, parents, and friends

Have all influenced who I’ve become.

That’s what I see.

I have the eyes of my director,

Who always never misses a thing.

The ears of my parents,

Who can pick up the smallest hint of sass.

The mouth of my friends,

Who always have something funny to say.

My mentors chiseled my being

And created the person that I am today.
