Miscalled

Getting misgendered

Feels like someone has poured acid in my heart.

It feels like someone decided to reach into my chest and pinch a bit of my muscle off for themselves.

I feel lonely, unreal

Because those people don't seem to care enough to use the right words.

I smile, I answer to the wrong words, the wrong phrasing,

Because it's so

     exhausting

to go through life having to explain a concept to everyone you know,

To everyone you meet,

And slowly,

You just fall silent.
