The Missing Piece

Listening to the silence is deafening

The silence that comes after a heart is done breaking

After the last tear falls

After the last piece hits the cold floor shattering

The moment your heart tries to mend

Gathering up the pieces of brokenness

Trying to pick up every piece

Only to find out the last one is missing

It’s shattered

The moment you realize that there is a missing piece

Find yourself fighting and being strong

But crying and wondering what happened

What went wrong?

The loneliness is almost too much

Being inside your own mind is a scary place

Going through memories and moments

That even the strongest of hearts can’t erase

I guess we never really move on

From all the pain and hurt and sadness

Sometimes the more we try the more we see

That trying to erase memories is pointless

The missing piece of my broken heart knows no light

It’s been in the dark

Covered in pain and stained with blood from every broken heart

Hard to put a puzzle together without all of the pieces

Healing is necessary to be better

Getting up and moving and trying to cope

Realizing that you are beautiful

Realizing you are strong and holding onto hope

The strongest of people are the most broken

Living life in constant fear of being hurt again

But strong enough to never give up

Because they find strength in knowing pain

Pain is temporary but blinding

It causes chaos but also proof

Proof that pain is necessary to gain strength

Strength in knowing that they can find their truth

The journey is not simple in pain

It’s a never ending road of disappointment

Constantly hurting and crying

But one day realizing it will all be worth it

Sometimes you have to pick yourself up

Look up and say I am worth it

I am worthy to be loved

I am special and imperfect

The strength to move forward

Though long and hard

Will end with someone who can mend

All the pieces of your once shattered life

And even mend that last missing piece

So you can be whole again!
