Mommy, Can I...

"Mommy, can I be skinny like those girls on T.V?"

I hear these words and put my head in shame.

"Mommy, can we go to McDonalds today?"

I hear this constantly and feel the same.

Society has shaped an unattainable mold for our children,

Skinny is beautiful; it is what they think and say.

Yet there is bad food everywhere

Making the kids unhealthy either way.

"Mommy, can I be able to eat today?"

Says the starving children everyday for the rest of their painful lives.

"Mommy, can I be able to drink clean water today?"

Says those who don't have much and are barely alive.

No stomach should be left to starve.

Little steps can pave a better road to different lives.

World Hunger can be eradicated,

And all it takes is a bit of effort and time.

Donations, volunteering, and appreciation for everything we have,

Can help our fellow brothers and sisters to not be in pain.

Spreading the word, fundraising, and sharing can also help,

Because no one is small to make a great change.
