Monsters

The monsters in her head
Too close to be outrun
She screams, she fights
And still they are not done

They torture her
Both night and day
Laughing at her pain
Refusing to go away

To you this is nothing
But to her the monsters are real
They tell her she's ugly, worthless
That her life is no big deal

Her mind is a battlefield
For a war she can't win
She shuts everyone out
When she should be letting them in
