More Than A Conqueror

The Waters Are Raging In A Storm That I’m Reluctant To Confront

And As I Look Into The Depths, It Almost Seems Easy To Just Drift Away

With Everything Else Paying No Mind

But I Could Never Gather Myself To Face That Sea

So I Look At The Puddles Formed On The Ship I Travel In

And I Wonder What The World Sees In That Reflection

I See A Ripple Of Something Great, But Then Another Comes

And I Find Myself Hoping They Never See It

You See, Many Drown In Their Sorrows, But I Know I’ve Been Swimming

So Instead I Take A Step Onto The Water

But I Become Too Afraid Of How High The Waves Are Hitting

And I Sink Into The Deep, Unknown Abyss

It Seems To Me That I’m Afraid Of My Own Fear

But I Forgot I Stepped Out Because I Heard A Voice

One That Said “Be Brave, And Don’t Be Afraid. I Am Here!”

That’s Why I Stepped Out Of The Boat By Choice

Yet Even When I Fell In, You Reached Out Your Hand To Me

And You Lifted Me Onto The Deck

And At That Moment The Storm Ceased

And The Raging Water Became Still

I’m Reminded Now About What Is Said Of Me

I’m Not In A Storm Alone, Nor Was I Ever

I Don’t Have To Fight These Battles As If You Are Not Here

And I Know I’m More Than A Conqueror

Nothing Will Keep Me From This Reminder, No Height, No Depth

No Power, No Rule, No Thing That Gasps For Breath

Nothing Separates Me From This Truth, Not Life, Not Death

So When The Water Rises, I’ll Know What To Do Next

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

-Romans 8:37-39 NKJV

At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the waves! When the disciples saw him walking on top of the water, they were terrified and screamed, “A ghost!” Then Jesus said, “Be brave and don’t be afraid. I am here!”Peter shouted out, “Lord, if it’s really you, then have me join you on the water! “Come and join me,”Jesus replied. So Peter stepped out onto the water and began to walk toward Jesus. But when he realized how high the waves were, he became frightened and started to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he cried out. Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and lifted him up…
