More Than A Teacher

Location

A teacher is a teacher, plain as that,

Certainly not someone whom you’d want to engage in your group chats.

But where do you go when you need a lending ear,

When your once closest friends are suddenly nowhere near?

Sure, a teacher is not exactly one to spill your entire life story to,

But they should be someone who will have no judgment against you.

There shouldn’t be a word that you can’t tell a teacher,

They’re passionate about helping; it’s one of their finely tuned features.

Of course, I suppose there are a few choice words that shouldn’t be said,

But that all comes down to common sense, using your head.

I hope one day, the barrier will be torn down completely,

So that every student has a friend, even if it’s done so discreetly.
