Mosaic

Location

I came with an open mind

with open arms and an open heart

I came but only to find

that they were hungry to throw a dart...

into my mind: the perfect bulls eye

my heart  a bleeding target

I was a deer caught in the headlights

my arms crossed as if in a casket

my willingness flattened

by the tires of cruelty

my thoughts misshapen

by the teeth of inhumanity

they pour into you like an empty vase

close your eyes and pretend it's rain

your feelings are slowly erased

a glass that once held flowers now holds pain

eventually you can contain no more

and you shatter at their feet

on the cold tile of the kitchen floor

or on the granite concrete

until somebody

with an open mind

with open arms and an open heart

takes the time to bind

each and every part

As they make shards of your glass stick,

your pieces become

a beautiful mosaic
