Mother and Daughter

You gave me a hug,

I pushed you away.

You took me to a movie,

I sat silent.

You wanted my time,

I ignored you.

You apologized,

You tried,

It was too soon.

Today you hug me,

I smile.

Today you rent us a movie,

I laugh with you.

Today you apologize,

I forgive you.

Today we talk about your past,

Without resentment,

And time has healed us.
