Mural

I wanted to say…
That not all paintings are simple.
When I look at you,
I see stars for eyes,
Flower petals for skin
And faults and flaws all at once.

But I see perfection in those flaws.

Even if some days your stars dimmer behind salted water,
And your flowers refuse to bud without honey.

Well, honey…
In those flaws, I look...

I find all of those unique shards of painted glass form into a mosaic.
I see them reflecting an image from a time,
Where you were covering those shards with leaking watercolor,
Trying to hide what you thought was wrong.

But sweetheart,
You can’t cover perfection.

I still see uniqueness in simplicity,
Beauty in what has to be seen,
And love,
You are not blind.

Your vision is just a little cloudy.

But you are the one who made that mirror.
Let it shine sterling silver,
With a touch of rose colored stardust.

Look at the glass, and smile…

Understand that it was never broken.

Just, covered.
