My Blanket

I have a blanket.

It keeps me safe;

It keeps me sane.

My blanket catches all my burdens,

all the burdens for which I bear.

In the secret whispers of the darkest shadows.

I hide my head,

deciding not to fight instead.

I seek cover in its cottony alliance,

its heaviness coating me in warmth and silence.

Insisting for me to forget the day.

But no!

My soul will prevail;

I must escape this jail,

and face my fears.

I will give it my best bit,

I am not one to quit.

Every breath I take,

I will no longer ache.

My heart will heal.

I will reveal

what this blanket has bloomed me to be.

Do you see me?
