My Favorite Season

The scent of smoke,

And sweet Summer grass

Heavy in the air.

White clouds skidding

Across the July sky.

Children dashing in the grass,

Cleated feet and tennis shoes,

Soccer game.

Jersey-clad counselors,

Heated flames of competition ignite.

Through all the people,

I see but one.

A fair skinned man in white,

Who is turning to look at me.

To laugh with me.

#13.

This heady summer atmosphere,

Concentrated with joy.

Bug spray, campfires,

Stolen kisses at midnight.

My favorite season.
