My friend Anxiety

I smile because I hide
Pretending to be optimistic and bright
My hands are shaking
My face is numb
My body feels like i'm floating
I see a crowd, I prepare
A pain strikes in my chest
Only five feet tall, and I feel even smaller
My friend, anxiety
Paralyzing
Terrifying
And it's all in my head
Just calm down
Just relax
There is nothing to be afraid of they say
And I know that
But that doesn't keep my friend anxiety away
