My Guardian Angel

Hold me close to your heart,

My guardian Angel.

Fill me with hope until I am an overflowing glass,

Guardian Angel.

Shower me with the best of luxuries, not those buoyant riches like diamonds and pearls.

Show me that these treasures we cherish are true,

The ones that they call love and affection,

Guardian Angel.

I place my trust in you,

Guardian Angel,

You are my journal stuffed with secrets.

Should they be secrets sullied with fear, or coated with powdered sugar optimism,

You give me hope,

Guardian Angel.

Take me away,

Guardian Angel,

For the world is too cruel.

It sends cold shivers up our spines and prys sacrifice from our arms but with you I am safe.

You love me with all of your heart for you have shown me wonders well beyond what meets the eye.

Place a ring on my finger and make me a bed of promises to lay my head softly on at night.

Let me rest fearlessly tonight,

I do, guardian Angel, I do.

Open up to me,

Guardian Angel,

There is only light in my eyes.

My heart beats in the rhythm of good intentions.

Taste the wonder in my every kiss,

Feel the softness of my palms and the warmth from my touch.

I am here for you,

Guardian Angel.

I must come clean,

Guardian Angel,

I am imperfect.

My past mistakes crawl back to the surface like an infected scar.

You deserve only the best,

Guardian Angel.

Find it in your awe striking heart to forgive me,

The way the God we love always does.

Forgive me as I forgave you,

Guardian Angel,

We can be flawful together, scars on society’s skin.

I feel it, and I’m not afraid.

Why is it then,

Guardian Angel,

That you’ve turned your back on me?

I stay true to our marriage yet you look at me as if I’m wearing a mask.

You don’t recognize me, you say,

But I am still, here!

Look at me, look behind the guise, know that I have been here and only here,

Guardian Angel!

Yes I am a stain on society’s cloth but as are you,

Understand me,

Guardian Angel.

Don’t leave me,

Guardian Angel,

To fend for myself walking aimlessly in the dark, while

Sin nips at my heels, a desert cobra.

You lied,

Guardian Angel,

Claiming no judgement in our open space,

But how is that I come clean and  you curl your face like sour milk dared to violate the back of your throat?

Should I be the one apologizing when you yourself are no saint?

I wonder how she felt when you cracked her heart, porcelain under pressure.

I’m lost,

Guardian Angel.

Goodbye,

Guardian Angel,

I lay my love down to sleep,

And I pray  to the Lord that he’ll have my soul to keep.

Clip your wings,

Guardian Angel,

For you have failed me,

Yes I still love you but you haven’t answered my call.

Find it in you,

Guardian Angel,

To prosper on your own,

For you’ll no longer have my love to fall back on.

Best wishes, last kisses,

All is said and done.
