My Jailer

Location

Locked in the Prison Cell

Created for you

I look out and see

You smiling.

Laughing.

I hide in a corner,

Threadbare Blanket

Over my shoulders,

Forgotten by the ones

I call friends.

I see you pass.

I cling to the bars

Calling to you

Begging.

Please help me.

Your eyes

Meet my pleading ones

You stare

Eyes hard and cold as ice.

Come closer and I’m filled

With hope

Only to watch. You

Add another Lock

To the Door.

I cry in anger

As you turn away.

Throwing the Key

To the gutter.

Back to your friends

To the life that.

Should belong

To me.
