My Joy Behind

I think that they are trying to reach thet highest point,

seek the fullest extremity,

because they think it will be the most beautiful,

the most rewarding

They think if they see something unseen, it will be new

But they are blinding themselves from the crevices of obscurity that sit beside them

They believe the greatest wonders lie atop the greatest mountain,

when they are waiting all around them

They do not look at the tree they have seen a thousand times,

because they believe there is nothing more to see,

and so they never know the secrets the tree holds

There is no peak that beholds a superlative treasure,

because all of life, land, and truth,

is no competition

The small crack on a wall holds a story,

as does the lost earring,

or leaf in the moonlight

The richness in the sky is not when we are closest to touching it,

but when we love it

Know the beauty and the worth around you,

and you will find peace to fill your searching soul
