My only friend

One million stars surround me

appearing to burn infinitely

warming my cold exterior

warm hues filled with light

captivating my mind and sight

painting my blackened sky

one by one, the shimmers fade

it leaves me asking why

I'm rotating slowly

time starts to go by

you can't help but feel lonely

on these trying nights

I look around

there is only one left

violent bursts of orange and red

a never ending- all consuming flame

waiting to hear words unsaid

I lift up my head

and gaze at this fire

who didn't leave me for dead

took up one's true desire

I couldn't shine without you

oh blessed sun, oh blazing red

you gave my heart peace

and gave my soul rest

you have been my only friend
