My Painted Curtain

Tue, 11/18/2014 - 22:46 -- Deonna

I have painted a curtain

To protect me from

Friends and faulty dreams,

Teachers and textbooks,

Failure and success,

And even from my own mind.

I’ve always been afraid

Of not being enough,

Of not understanding,

Of not being loved,

And of being different.

Therefore, I painted my curtain.

Today

I am tearing down my curtain,

Breaking free from my fears,

Starting over,

Achieving my goals,

And doing what’s best for me.

Goodbye curtain,

You are not wanted anymore.
