To be honest, writting poems are not my forte

Yet here I am writting this poem today

Because college is expensive and my financial struggle is real

So I need scholarship money to seal the deal.

I wish I had a life where money wasnt an issue

Or a life where a promising future was guaranteed to you

But life doesn’t work that way

Nothing Is free

You have to work for what you want

So I have to work to make college happen for me

 

"You have to come up with this money" She says

"This moment in your life will determine your future" they say

These words scare me

They drive me crazy

I just want them to go AWAY!

It's not Fair!

A child's future should not depend on a dollar amount

Not mine, not the boy's who live down the street 

or any one else

But it does so I have to make this poem count

So I use my words on this prayer

That money won't be the reason

that a child dreams about a bright future that isn't

there
