My Time

I know I'm your only child

And just cause I'm a girl doesn't mean I'm going to run wild

My head is on straight

You just have to let me concentrate

I know the world is a big place

But I'm becoming an adult and I need my space

You wont always be around to hold my hand

So it's time for me to follow my own command

I'll always be your little baby I understand

My DNA says it with every strand

I promise I won't stray

No human hand could ever keep me away

I promise I'll be fine

All fledglings must one day learn to fly

Yes it will be hard and I may cry

Yet you must let me grow and watch me make my own mistakes

I promise to learn from them just in my own way

But I'll have to learn on my own

For one day I'll be grown I want to help make a change in this world

Then on that very day you can say "That's my baby girl"
