naiveté

as a child, i gave benefit of the doubteven though they would leave me out.sometimes they would be friendly, other times they would be cold to me.rude nicknames were givenbut i embraced them as if it were a win;as i grew, i saw muted laughs and looks,i was too busy studying in my books.fast forward to high school, and this girl and i hit it off.we became friends and were cool, although sometimes she would scoffat things that i enjoyed or people she disapproved.over time, our friendship was destroyed;she would claim she was abused.it wasn't until last year, i realized my best friend wasn't a friend.i didn't shed any tears, and gladly let our friendship end.she was manipulative and toxic, but i never realized it until after.i can't stand unnecessary conflict, even if it's disguised with laughter.toxic behavior is now despicable, anyone should leave their friend if they're able.
