Never Never Never Never

Never never never never
I've been lost forever, forever
Never to be found or guided
Lost without a sunlit path

I can't see that road before me
It's so dark and strewn with stones
I cannot light it up at all
For fear of what I may see

Friends, they stop and stare and whisper
They don't care, not really anyway
They simply wish to rid their worlds
Of darkness and decaying matter

Demons reach out and offer their help
They speak words that tempt and fill my soul
The angels wander, lost in the darkness
Seeking my soul that they will never find

I hear the angels whisper past me
I want to reach out and grip their hands
But the demons hug me and hold me close
I cannot break their grip on me

Dare I call out to the lamplight,
Though I fear the demons' tempers?
Many times I've pondered this question
Many times I've failed to try

I walk along the path in darkness
Never to see that light foretold of
The demons laugh and taunt and hold me
They grip my soul and won't let go
