No Cons To Living

It's raining outside

From a sky colored charcoal grey

The tranqulizer to a stressful day

The early bird that sings

interrupting my dreams

Sparks irritation for a split second

Then I realize

The real prize

Isn't an extra wink of sleep

It's

The music in my ears

That I've heard for years

That others haven't been as fortunate to hear

The birdsong plays in 90 degree suns

Ignoring its burning rays

Rays that fill me with a livliness

That tanning beds can't replicate

For every broken heart

And failed works of art

That started a pain within

Turned into

Lessons well learned

To know which bridges to burn

To make way for a brand new start

All the classes i'll hate

Of the classes I'll take

Show me the person I want to become

Every obstacle I've had

Doesn't seem all that bad

When you think of the beauties in life
