No Filter Poem: Unmasked
Location
Wipe off the carefully proportioned eyeliner from the crevices of your cherished eyes Clear the golden sparkle of magic from your promising eyelids Remove the voluminous carbon black mascara from your long, and longing eyelashes Erase the powdered pampered pallet of bronze from your delicate cheeks Take off the ruby red paint of lipstick from your soft, soothing lips Then look into the smooth, transparent glass in front of you, and ask yourself, “What do you see?" The worry lines of an imperfect teacher The eyebrows of a battling fighter The dark brown eyes of a beautiful hard worker The nose of stimulating innovator The cheekbones of a striving dancer The lips of a glistening orator The chiseled chin of a poised and palpable writer A young woman who inspires others To aspire A young woman who sees beyond facades of imagery, and grapples with her ever-changing surroundings A young woman who is not changed in aura, but is a part of the change that embraces change, to and for those surroundings and Who in fact, can ignite others to do the same Being unfathomable and flexible is a part of her name. Especially when she is no longer constrained to a powdered pampered pallet Inspire to aspire Aspire to inspire That’s who I am What I do or at least, Who I’m piecing together to be. Without colored chemicals embodying me, I am the real me, Dynahlee.
