This is Not A Poem on Religion

I appreciate what you do,

But I don’t like how you do it.

I am a student

And you are my teacher.

This is not a church

And I am not in a steeple.

I am here to learn

Not to be preached to.

I am not talking about religion.

If you give me the opportunity to learn

I’ll take it and fly

But when you hold me down

I can only struggle and cry.

Give me opportunities to learn and grow

Instead of talking to me about how I should wear my clothes.
