Nothing Changed Today

Nothing changed today
A broken hearted song was still sung by the broken man on the broken corner
A melody molded from miseries long forgotten by all but him
But today I listened

And nothing changed today
That bullied girl still bowed her head as she scurried off to her house
The fire in her eyes dulling
As if the flame won't last
But today I saw her

And nothing changed today
I still walked my same old path
My hands in my pockets, heading for my class
But I think my heart may have reset itself
It may have switched its beat
Because nothing changed today
Nothing but me
