The Obligation to One’s Family

the obligation to one’s family

is a curious thing that I do question

an unsaid contract you take happily

or otherwise you better not mention

the expectation of a happy hug

to celebrate their presence everywhere

when inside your head you grip their neck snug

yet, in reality, you only stare

I wish to feel loved by my own true kin

to feel excitement at their arrival

but instead this anger drives me to sin

to only stay for social survival

but...if you would love me, then I could you

my spiteful tears would dry...we’d be anew
