My screaming wings
have grown faint
They strain against
the beating wind
to pull me to the top
of the sea.

They need sleep,
but if I let go
for one instant
I will slip
into the unforgiving
hold of the ocean.

I do not want to rest!
But my soul
screams for it
It knows that peace
rests beneath
the writhing ocean.

But in the end
it is light
that must make right
our desire to live,
to love,
to endure.

All is light.
