Ode to Colorado

I believe you're misunderstood

No one bothers to look for the good

That you've given me all my life

Such a crazy misconception

On my part that I had been wishing to leave this place behind at all

I held my tongue when I was afraid

If they ask me now will I say your name

For your sake I will say

She's just a broken one

You will change the you do

with your red and white yellow and blue

You'll be waiting for me

Out the window on the airplane

Born in wonder God had declared

Let her skyscrapers be fourteen thousand

And beneath each tower lies a stegosaurus

We're trying to patch you

Cause when the snow falls on Saturday night

Sunday is true to its name

When they ask me how did you survive I will simply say

I held my tongue when I was afraid

If they ask me now will I say your name

For your sake I will say

She's just a broken one

You will change the you do

with your red and white yellow and blue

You'll be waiting for me

Out the window on the airplane

Could we forget about everything gone wrong

Such scary time that's passed

Forget about your reputation

Throw it out with the rest

I hold my tongue when I feel afraid

If they ask me why did you ever stay

For your sake I will say

She's just a broken one

but they don’t know you the way I do

with your red and white yellow and blue I know

You'll be waiting for me

Out the window on the airplane
