An Ode To The Universe

Location

Programmed for self-destruction
Set to live backwards
Found in God's very first chapter
My heart has been captured
by the morning star
but my brain can't seem to formulate the art
you instilled in me, all the little things
the power to cause change, to call out and reverse pain
but the mildew eats my chances in this game
Been almost drowned by the rain
but when it rains it pours
and the salvation is never the same as before.
You're not some bearded man in the sky,
you're the reason why the birds fly
how the Autumn leaves die
you are the science behind these manifestations
the miracle behind gestation
the reason why kids play
and how I know if my loves are having a bad day.
Thank you for your brutality
For breaking my heart wide open
For not making it easy
For not being a voice whenever I've lost hope
but instead to be a quiet teacher.
It's so easy to be an extremist,
to demand all answers or scrap the question,
to deny the soul's existence,
because I can't count the immeasurable
if I refuse to apply the proper units
Thank you for being the inevitable
Slow Sunrise and Supernova.
Coax the air from my lungs,
snatch these words from my eager tongue,
and make me part of this chemical fusion.
