Once

Location

most

normal

childhoods are scarred by

this thing

they get

once

chicken pox, the devil's

work,

you can only lose a mother

once

happens once in your life

the day you lose her does not mean

you'll stop

itching

cremes help, scratching does not

tears may help, remembering

makes--worse

there are no remdies, nothing

works

every time you feel                                       every time you think

an itch                                                           of her

you scratch                                                   you hurt

and throw a fit of rage

you CANNOT scratch

calamine lotion,

catnip tea sweetend with molasses

water juice burdock root

or goldenseal

all these for a successful heal?

but you still can't deal

i'd rather have had

chicken pox,

instead.

                                                                                             For real.

This is a conceit using the occurences of chicken pox and the death of a mother-both situations that only happen once. Chicken pox usually affect us when we're young and losing a mother usually occurs at an older age, but ironically instead of getting scars from chicken pox at a young age, I developed scars from losing my mother to cancer at a tender age.
