Once Upon a Poem

Once Upon a Poem:

a backlit town

the story place

a girl with shame

upon her face

lost from her journey

off sunlight roads

the daughter hid

to bear her load

her scars were proof

of a dragon's wrath

the very one

took from her path

she dreamed to fly

another world

to drift or conquer

destinies swirled

so while tending

to her wounds

the dragon girl sat

her life consumed

for to break

the spell of dead towns

she had to travel

to the world unbound

to break the barrier

was her true test

for whom else could save her

but the best

with her tattered wings

and beating heart

the dragon girl fought

for her own fresh start
