One Day

America,

the land of the free.

A land filled with diversity.

 A land filled with hypocrisy.

The beloved place in which I have grown.

The beloved place from which I have learned.

Success is measured by the stack of paper sitting in your bank account.

While electronics, cars, and other so called luxuries fill the voids inside our hearts.

Here emotions are considered weakness.

We hide the raw beauty of our tormented vulnerability.

Fake a smile on Instagram,

and unaware repeat continuously our everyday cycle.

America,

The one made up of distinct societies.

Societies who instead of coming together,

pick at each other’s imperfections.

The one where people label themselves as minorities,

while others bathe in arrogance and carry themselves as authorities.

Freedom is our controversial paradox.

For we have freedom of opinion and expression,

but are limited due to certain rules and expectations.

My mind is constantly conflicted with the voices inside of my head.

Always troubled in between making decisions the way my longing heart desires,

Or conforming to the standards our civilization considers required.

America,

a country jam-packed of double standards.

A beautiful yet cruel place,

Inviting as well as deceiving,

powerful but not always efficient,

profitable yet full of discriminating practices,

like happiness and social media, a perfect illusion.

Dreams our immigrants come seeking,

with strength, with hope, with faith.

A better life they visualize,

yet for coming here they get criticized.

Looks unfortunately, can become the ultimate target for one to be victimized.

Somehow all of this is trivialized.

America,

where regardless of others actions or perspectives

will always be the place that I call home.

For my heart, instinctively pumps patriotism through my veins,

And my brain will never filter people’s worthiness based off their likes, interests, weight,

and disabilities, much less the color of their hair, eyes, or skin.

I can only pray that one day we will all behave united as the nation we were named to

 be.

I do not believe aggression, oppression, and other chaotic functions will ever settle these

grounds.

What goes around ultimately always ends up coming back, and sometimes even more

 profound.

So, I can only hope the day will come, when we will surrender our egotistical, old

fashioned Demeanor, to fully appreciate our multicultural states, and all its unique

beautiful people.

One day we will all stand up straight

and stand up tall, unapologetic, fearless, selfless, and without the need of validation.

Without our heads revolving around monetary business,

our hearts always seeking approval,

and without being torn apart by the 17th centuries idea of the term “race”.

Life is short but it tests our patience, love conquers all.
