The One Down Below

I was cut down long ago,

but I still remain just the same as before.

I wait and age,

as the years hurry by.

Whether summer heat or winter's snow,

I remain just the same as before.

Now there are others who are above,

or so they think themselves.

They blow and sway with the times,

but know far less than I.

Young and silly things they are,

never knowing where they're going.

And never caring where they are.

Creatures of distraction,

while I remain just the same as before.

I am not so beautiful as the ones who are above,

but I know much more and my years do show.

I am much more than the one down below.

Fore I remain just the same as before.

I am who I am,

and I can tell you that for sure.

Fore I remain just the same as before.
