One World, Two Views

My understanding of the world is limited

Yet limitless

I’ve seen the far corners of the earth

However, through nothing more than a

Political report

I have yet to be shown but a miniscule amount

Of the truth that has yet to be unearthed

From within the ash and rubble of shattered lives

This year has been one of discovery for me

Of realization that a global betterment might just be

A ragged cover up to the hollow corpse of our rotting society

Progress a façade

To the innate immorality

And a fight for love to conquer

Fear

In the minds and hearts

Of people hoping for prosperity

This year has seen the depths of anguish

And the bliss of ignorance

The enchantment of achievement

And the blind grief of hopeless oblivion

Because as I was lost in the beauty of the world

The world continued to lose its beauty

Our world
