Outshone Starlight

Location

All this time we waited, watched, and expected the un-expected.

We haunted the shadiest of forests in every land and were desolately rejected.

We were ambiguous to everything living and unconnected to time, which is always in effect.

Maybe we were misdirected?

I know, now, that we were oblivious.

We were oblivious to it all.

We were told we shown brightly as the stars in the sky, ever since our existence.

What if it was all a lie, that our self-subsistence wasn’t as bright as the star’s starlight, but of blight decay?

When you’re told that you’re important to everyone around you, yet everyone is drawn away from your domain.

How could you be as important as they say?

The light they gave to us, to stay bold and always be brave, began to fade just like the star’s starlight when the morning arrives, bringing a new day.

We knew what was happening wasn’t right and we told ourselves we had to hold tight, in the midst of the fight.

But, it was too late.

By now, after everything that has occurred, we lost our grip on the cliff-side and now we lived in our own fright.

We all gather in a densely packed forest in the frosty night, as one, for no one cares about the unknown, but of the known.

When we think of ourselves we think of the star’s starlight glistening down upon us, for they feel just like us, hiding from the light that they said we had.

Yet we never had it, we were blind enough to think it.

For the bit that we had, must have been snatched and lit in an unforgiving fire.

It was too late to change; we had already chosen a path.

Whether the path leads to a dead end, it doesn’t matter anymore, we are too far gone.

Sometimes they tell us to re-draw our path, but we can’t, the forgone stay forevermore, forgone.

To some we are the unknown, who haunt the inevitable.

I can assure you, you are not alone.

For the unknown are very well-known.

We are the darkness of the outshone.
