Down and down
With no bottom in sight.
I am surrounded by bubbles,
Of all different shapes and sizes,
That are speaking to me.
They tell me that I am not loved,
That I am a failure,
That I am worthless.
I reach out to pop these bubbles,
Hoping to put an end
To the voices ringing in my ears.
But I am falling,
I cannot reach all of them.
Opening my eyes,
I see that I am in my bed.
The bubbles were my own thoughts,
Trying to trap me.
At school my friend greets me,
Tells me how much I was missed,
Invites me into conversation.
I am valued.
I spend so much time
Listening to myself,
But all I have to do is go outside.
