Overcoming Tryouts

Walking into the gym,

The butterflies in my stomach turn.

I watch a boy warm up and wish I could be as good as him.

My stomach continues to churn.

I don't feel like I'll make the team

Should I even try?

I cheer up by remembering my dream,

I know on the court I can fly.

Coed volleyball,

You may be scary

But on the floor I will sprawl.

I will leave this tryout with glee!

The tryout goes by,

I make the team, feeling like I was in the sky.
