Overlooked

I wish they'd pay attention

to the girl behind the curtain.

The sleeping lion, overlooked

because the monkey does the tricks.

I know she wants to come out

But I'm nervous, and hold her in.

Becuase I'm too willing to fit their

plastic mold;

I'm a type, a test score, and a familiar face.

Exactly what they expected. Normal.

But I wish they'd pay attention

to the

Seer

Maker

Thinker

Saver

Creative

Unbeliever

Because just because I fit their mold

on the outside,

Doesn't mean I'm hollow.

There's a sleeping lion, overlooked

because the monkey does the tricks.

I wish they'd pay attention

to the girl behind the curtain...

But I also know

she'd scare them.
