Paint Them Something Beautiful

Silently

The world sleeps

But I lie awake

In the middle of a black night

Listening to the cries

Of people I’ll never meet

With blue stories I’ll never hear

And I wonder

Who will paint them something beautiful?

Desperately

I scramble through

The splashes of greens and golds

That so many fall victim to

Forgetting about those less fortunate

Drowning in an ocean so brown

That not even the darkest souls wish to swim

And I wish

To paint them something beautiful.

I wish to stop the pain

That none of them ask for

I wish to shine a light

For them to follow

Leading them to place

Of warmth and hope

Where I can turn their tears

Into watercolors

Used to paint them something beautiful.
