A Part of the Main

Individualized with status and personality,

People are nonetheless the same.

Religious beliefs, race, and anatomy—

All flow in a similar vein.

Whether words of Frost, Keats, or Poe,

All poems are creative models of homogeneous clay.

Donne said it best, wise and thorough,

“No man is an island.... every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.”
