The girl behind the curtain

Is someone who is uncertain.

She plays pretend all day

But cries the night away.

Because she is depressed

No one will ever be impressed.

She tries to be the people pleaser

But even she is not a believer.

She plays the part extremely well

No one will be able to tell.

She hides to numb the pain

Because people cannot refrain

From asking questions day and night

And giving her an awful fright.

The girl behind the curtain

Wishes she could be certain

That her pain would fade away

And she could live to see another day.
