Peace nor Violence

There's a child in my mind who belives in mermaids and fairytale weddings

who won't stop smiling

who won't stop laughing

who won't and can't stop believing in optimisn for this world

But, exactly where that child's been is all that the child knows

and in a mind there's no room to grow

unless you branch out

or reach out

to everyone else outside in the world.

Right about now the child has realized that

and wants to go

to explore and implore

what she's been missing this whole time

Through and through the materialism of life

she starts that search

like so many others

to find that happiness and promise

promise of peace, love and serenity in the world

But there is little

hardly enough to go around for the little newcomer

and so she begins to succumb to the realness

the reality of her optimism and fairytale thoughts

Oh, in the world she knows its there

but for now it won't dare appear

or lest be corrupted and polluted

by the greedy, materialistic air.
