Peace (A Shakespearean Sonnet)

Battle within, always fighting inside

Outrage, chaos, never ending rampage

Mercy saves my foolish heart, saves my pride

Perhaps with peace we can escape this rage

Which wrong, which right, which warfare must we fight

Waste blood, waste time. crying, trying to breathe

Oh peace, will you let me find joy tonight

Comfort my heart so I unclench my teeth

You hide from sight, unveil yourself I ask

Hold me through this painful night, bring me ease

My eyes do search for you needing  one task

Carry my strain today, I beg you please

If one thing I ask, let it be my peace

One I could trust to bring this war to cease.
