The Peephole

As I glanced into the peephole

I visualized something new

I saw happiness and tears of joy

I had a glimpse of things that humans don’t do

We live lives filled with depression,

And we forget good things do exist

We give up so effortlessly

That it’s refusal to persist

Our sight has been compromised

To see this world as a disaster

But we’ve been befooled

Into thinking that we should end our lives faster

Personally, I think life is awesome

That’s if you view it my way

You should wear my perspective,

For I see in a unique array

While you see a job you just lost

I see a better one that you deserve

One day you’ll own a chain of restaurants

No more serving hors d’oeuvres

While you mourn not having electricity

God has a better plan in mind

I wish you could see that as I do

But your perspective is blind

The awesome part about life

Is that we see it as we choose

We can see it in a miraculous way

Or we can take each punch for a bruise

Why don’t you take each punch

And use it as a refreshing drink

You see how that became positive

That’s how you should attempt to think

Keeping it rather laconic,

Life is everything for you to decide

You create all the awesomeness

For it is you who presides

So as I peer into the peephole, one last time

I choose to discern things differently

I view the world as a large sketchpad

For that… That is how I see
