Playing Double Dutch with Fatigue and Arousal

You

never thanked grandma Rita for the card

stand in your room naked eating tortilla chips

don’t let a mirror catch

in its line of sight or

fall into oblivion and sing Italian opera

chocolate cake for dinner again

a puree of thoughts you’ve forgotten

how to spell awake without mindless

insert one coin to resuscitate humanity

reach inside the brain pull out strands of spaghetti

throw them at the ceiling

roll your face over two canvases

one portrait for punching regret out of catharsis

the other hung on the wall

to warn home invaders you and death

cry each other to sleep

and don't take credit for the tally of

Suffering.
