Poverty Poem

Location

We often ignore the poor and the hungry.

Because we never give thanks for what we have.

If we can't appreciate our own things,

How can we help others in need?

The saddest part of it all,

Is that if we do see someone less fortunate than us,

We never help anyway.

It amazes me how hundreds of people walk by a person in poverty,

And only a few reach in their pockets to give.

It amazes me how people can't even donate a penny,

So that maybe that person could save up a hundred to buy a candy bar.

It amazes me that people don't realize

That while their happily satisfying their hunger,

Other people are laying in the cold rain without having eaten dinner.

It amazes me how much one person can give by not giving much.

Doesn't it amaze you how few people take the opportunity to give.
